Sheffield Wednesday fans react to comprehensive win over Birmingham City

While Sheffield Wednesday have been able to pick up wins this season, they wouldn’t be where they are in the table if they couldn’t, they haven’t usually been in the most convincing of styles.

Many of the games that Wednesday have won have been done in a turgid style, which is why when they have lost, you have seen the odd fan call for their head as if what is happening this year is much worse than last year. Then a cursory look at the stats will tell you the Owls are pretty much at the same level they were the season before, except then they were playing much more exciting football.

But today, after only seeing glimpses of it before, Wednesday finally put together a complete performance which couldn’t fail to excite the fans in the stand as they beat Birmingham City 3-0. In the first half Jordan Rhodes got his first goal since signing for the club, charming many when he went to celebrate with his dad Andy, who is the goalkeeping coach at the club.

In fact, it ended up being a banner day for Wednesday’s new signings as they showed what impact they could make on the club. In the second half Sam Winnall was also able to net his first goal, while the other big money signing from Middlesbrough Adam Reach also got on the score sheet late on into the game to make it a result to remember.

But after such a great performance on the pitch, how did the fans react? Well as you’d expect, they were in a good mood with Rhodes getting a lot of praise.
