Ryan Hedges can’t wait to get going for Barnsley

Barnsley’s new signing Ryan Hedges has told the Sheffield Star that he can’t wait to get going for the club.

After being out on loan at Sky Bet League Two club Yeovil Town earlier in the season, Hedges was able to jump up the leagues after leaving Swansea City for good and joining Barnsley on a permanent deal in the last few hours of transfer deadline day. He would then go on to make his début for the club last weekend though it wasn’t much as he came on in the last few minutes of the match against Preston North End.

And after getting more time on the pitch in an U23s match where he impressed after registering two assists, Hedges now believes he is ready and raring to go for the first team. He wants a spot in the first team and believes he will be able to perform well should head coach Paul Heckingbottom give him a chance in their match against Reading.

He said: “I am delighted to be here and can’t wait to get going now,”

“It seems everything here is really good.”

“I have sat down with the Gaffer and saw his plans for me so now I just want to kick on as much as I can to help the team win and get them higher up the table.”

“I know there is a great atmosphere around and I can’t wait to sample it.”

“The attacking style of play going forwards and being direct suits the way I play so hopefully I can fit in well.”
