PREVIEW: Newcastle United v Derby County

Newcastle United will be looking to return to winning ways in the Sky Bet Championship when in form Derby County visit St James’ Park on Saturday.

The Magpies were cruelly denied three points in midweek when a late Ciaran Clark own goal handed Queens Park Rangers a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw on Tyneside and United will hope for more luck against The Rams.

Newcastle United go into the match with no new injury concerns. The Magpies will have Senegalese midfielder Mo Diame available for selection once again after the player returned from international duty at the African Cup of Nations while Jack Colback has recovered from illness and could feature.

The biggest boost for United boss Rafa Benitez is in attack with top scorer Dwight Gayle set to return to the side following a hamstring injury.

Derby County arrive on Tyneside in good form with Steve McClaren’s side having won their last two league matches and matched reigning Premier League champions Leicester City in the FA Cup Fourth Round.

The Rams will be without the services of star midfielder Will Hughes who has a hamstring injury but Nick Blackman, Ikechi Anya and David Nugent could all return.

Newcastle United won the reverse fixture 2-0 with goals from Yoan Gouffran and DeAndre Yedlin and The Magpies will be looking to complete a league double over their opponents.
