Robins new boy receives social media abuse

Bristol City new boy Matty Taylor has admitted that he has received a torrent of abuse from Bristol Rovers supporters on social media since joining their bitter city rivals according to the Bristol Post.

The 26-year-old hotshot swapped The Memorial Stadium for Ashton Gate on transfer deadline day for an undisclosed fee.

The striker became the first player to transfer between the two Bristol clubs since Trevor Morgan in 1987 and Taylor has admitted that he may need to close his social media account after receiving lots of abuse from fans of his former club.

When speaking to the Bristol Post Taylor said “I have not been on social media to see any of what is going on, but a few of my mates have told me about certain things.

“To be honest, I’ll probably come off social media altogether or consider setting up a private account.”

Taylor joined Bristol Rovers on a free transfer in summer 2014 after his contract with Forest Green Rovers had expired and the player went on to gain back-to-back promotions with The Pirates. The striker scored 67 goals in 132 appearances in blue and white and Taylor will now be looking to replicate that form on the other side of the city.
