Grimsby ‘hoover’ up young Everton striker

League Two side Grimsby Town continued their January transfer dealings with the capture of Everton youngster Calum Dyson on loan until the end of the season, reports the club’s official website.

The tall and rangy striker came through the ranks at Goodison Park, signing a professional deal in 2014. He gained exprience on loan at Stockport and Chester in 2015/16.

A club statement read: Grimsby Town Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of striker, Calum Dyson on loan from Everton Football Club until the end of the season.

“The 20-year-old striker has been with the Toffees since the age of six, progressing through the academy and signing a two-year professional deal in July 2014. Calum has since signed an extension to his deal with the club.
“During the 2013/14 season, Dyson featured regularly during the club’s Under-18 title-winning campaign, scoring 6 goals and providing 10 assists.
“Calum will meet up with his new team mates at Cheapside on Thursday morning.”
Dyson has been in excellent form for the Toffee’s under-23 side this season, netting five times in his opening seven games of the campaign.

He told evertonfc.com: “You always want to score goals – and to get a couple on my birthday last time out was great!“I try and put myself in the right positions and then have the composure to score. Thankfully with the chances I’ve had recently, a few have gone in.”

The striker will be available as the Mariners face Luton Town in League Two this coming weekend.
