Reading complete loan signing of Bournemouth striker

Reading have signed Bournemouth’s Lewis Grabban on loan for the rest of the season as confirmed by the club website.

The 29-year-old striker made his return to Bournemouth during the last January transfer window but his second spell at the club has come nowhere to matching his first. Since signing, he has only scored two goals for the Cherries and has largely been frozen out of the first team picture this season. With this return to the south coast going badly, he needed to get away for a while to get back to the form that earned him big money moves in the first place.

And he will be hoping to do that with Reading after he signed a deal which will keep them until the end of the season. The Royals are currently challenging for promotion and have looked to add to their squad during this transfer window so they can carry on trying to break into the top two. And now they have a new striker who has knowledge of getting promoted from this league having done so with Norwich City who could lead them back into the Premier League.

Following the completion of the signing, Reading’s chief executive Nigel Howe said: “I am delighted that we have been able to add some extra fire power to the squad in the form of a proven goalscorer like Lewis. And I am very pleased that a striker in such high demand chose to come to join the Royals.”

Grabban could make his debut against Ipswich Town on Saturday.
