Reading set to beat Leeds United to signing of Bournemouth striker

Reading are set to beat Leeds United to the signing of Bournemouth’s Lewis Grabban according to the report from HITC Sport.

After having a dispute with former club Norwich City, he re-joined Bournemouth in the last January transfer window but struggled to adjust back to life on the south coast. He only scored once in the second half of last season, and has gone on to make six appearances this season, again only scoring one goal.

This has led to Grabban heading for the exit door at the Vitality Stadium and initially it looked like he would be heading up north to sign for Leeds, who have been looking to sign a new striker during most of the January transfer window. But once again they are going to miss out on one of their targets as Grabban is electing to join Reading instead.

Grabban won’t be making Berkshire his permanent home as he will only be joining the Royals on a loan deal, but it will be a chance to play a big part in the Sky Bet Championship promotion race much like he did when he was at Norwich. Reading are currently 3rd in the Championship and are six points off Newcastle United in the automatic promotion places, though the team they beat to this signing are just below them in 4th. This means that Leeds may end up paying for missing out on Grabban in more ways than one if he scores the goals that pushes them down the league table.
