Ramsdale, Sheffield United keeper set for Bournemouth

Sheffield United keeper set for Bournemouth

Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is set for a move to the Premier League with Bournemouth if the deal can be completed in time, according to HITC Sport.

The 18-year-old has been subject to transfer speculation this month after his quick rise from under-18 football to professional this season. Ramsdale made his Blades début in November’s 6-0 thumping of Leyton Orient in the FA Cup.

Everton have been favourites to land the highly rated youngster but saw their bid rejected this week and Ronald Koeman has decided against following up the club’s initial bid. However, it now appears that Premier League rivals Bournemouth are hot on the tails of Ramsdale after tracking the England youth international for quite some time. The Cherries have reportedly met the valuation of the goalkeeper and are working hard to complete the deal before the transfer deadline.

Ramsdale is the South Yorkshire club’s back-up goalkeeper behind Simon Moore and ahead of former number one George Long, who has made over 100 appearances for Sheffield United. Blades boss Chris Wilder has often spoken of his intent to keep all three shot-stoppers at Bramall Lane and will be reluctant to let the youngster leave for the Premier League.

Sheffield United have had a busy transfer window but are not expected to complete any transfer deadline day incomings. Permanent additions in James Hanson, Danny Lafferty and Samir Carruthers have all be made in January to strengthen the squad at Wilder’s disposal.

Along with Hanson, loanees Jay O’Shea and Joe Riley could make their debuts in Saturday’s clash with AFC Wimbledon.
