Sheffield Wednesday have agreed a £10 million fee for Middlesbrough striker Jordan Rhodes and are close to signing the Scottish forward, according to various reports.
The Owls have been interested in Rhodes for a number of years now and are keen to bring the forward to Hillsborough this January transfer deadline day. With his time limited at Premier League side Middlesbrough, Rhodes looks set to make the move to Sheffield in order to gain first team football again.
Various respected journalists on Twitter are breaking the news this evening:
While no deal is done yet, understand Jordan Rhodes to #SWFC is a strong possibility.

Now don't hold me to this. Relaying. Boro sources tell me still a possibility of Rhodes leaving tonight & #swfc favourites IF it happens.

The odds of Wednesday bringing in Rhodes have also shortened sharply during this evening. Odds on the transfer of Rhodes to Hillsborough from Teesside have shortened from 6/4 to 1/4 due to significant betting on the move.
David Garrido of Sky Sports has tweeted saying Rhodes is undergoing a medical at Hillsborough.
Sky Sources: Sheffield Wednesday & Middlesbrough have agreed a fee of around of £10m for Jordan Rhodes. Player having medical. #SWFC #MFC

The transfer of Rhodes to Hillsborough would prove to be a massive statement from the Owls who are looking at promotion back to the Premier League this season.
Rhodes began his career at Ipswich initially but joined Huddersfield Town in 2009 when he found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Portman Road. It was at Huddersfield that he would flourish and from there, he joined Blackburn.
A regular 20 goal a season contributor at Ewood, it wasn’t a surprise to many when Middlesbrough came calling for the Scotsman last January.
However, a move has never really worked out for either party and Sheffield Wednesday would love to make him one of their own before the deadline passes.
With 172 league goals in 297 total appearances, Rhodes could be exactly what the Owls need to fire them back to the big time.
