Wigan Athletic make official approach for Grimsby Town striker

Wigan Athletic have made an offer worth £750K for Grimsby Town’s Omar Bogle according to a report from Sky Sports News.

The 24-year-old striker has been one of the most tracked strikers in the Sky Bet EFL this season after he perfectly adjusted from the jump up to Sky Bet League Two with him being the top scorer with 19 goals. This has seen the Mariners having to rebuff a lot of bids from several different Sky Bet Championship clubs and are hoping to last this final day of the window so they can have their star striker for the rest of the season.

But now they will have to resist one more bid as Wigan have now made an offer which would initially give Grimsby £750K, but has add-ons attached which mean the Latics could end up paying out a total of £1m. It’s a slight improvement on the offers they have received so far for Bogle which have tended to be around the £850K, but it may not been the improvement that the Lincolnshire club have been demanding to be given if they were to sell their star asset.

The Latics have made signing a new striker their main priority on transfer deadline day as they have struggled to score goals this season, leading them to being at the wrong end of the Sky Bet Championship. And they believe that Bogle’s form can easily translate to the second tier which is why they are focusing their efforts on signing him.
