Former England man could leave Cardiff City before the deadline

WalesOnline are reporting that former Liverpool and Southampton striker Rickie Lambert could depart Cardiff City before the 11 pm deadline strikes.

However, it all depends whether The Bluebirds can sign a replacement for the forward.

It has been rumoured during this transfer window that he may be the target of fellow Championship rivals Wolves and QPR. So far, however, no deal has materialised for the forward who only joined Cardiff in the summer of 2016.

Having already had a frustrating deadline day – Neil Warnock is still a goalscorer short going into the second half of the season.

Having already seen their interest in Aberdeen’s Jonny Hayes and Matty Taylor come to nothing earlier today – the prospects of any new additions at The Cardiff City Stadium are looking slimmer by the minute.

It has already been suggested that Warnock may be forced to sell if he is to buy this window as the budget he is working with isn’t particularly great.

One of the squads higher earners, it is no wonder that Lambert’s name is being thrown around. However, it appears that he won’t be allowed to leave the club unless Warnock finds better. Which, so far, he has failed to do.

Warnock has openly admitted that he will only go searching for the right player and will wait until the summer if the situation requires it.

As the window enters the last seven hours – there appears to be no sign of either an incoming or departure in the forward lines.
