Scunthorpe midfielder joins Stevenage

Stevenage have today confirmed the signing of Scunthorpe United midfielder Jack King, who joins the club on a free transfer.

King has been at Stevenage for the majority of this season, playing 21 times, and scoring one goal since his loan move to the Hertfordshire club in August.

He returned to the Sky Bet League One promotion chasers in the New Year, but has since struggled to break into the first team.

He has opted to sign a contract at Stevenage, which will keep him at the club until at least June 2018.

The 31-year-old midfielder will go straight into the squad to face Crawley Town in their Sky Bet League Two fixture this coming Saturday.

King has spent the majority of his career in Non-League, featuring for teams such as Woking and Farnborough, after coming through the youth set up at Swansea City.

He joined Preston North End in 2012, after agreeing a deal with Graham Westley.

The midfielder scored eight times in 78 games for the Lilywhites, as well as helping them achieve promotion to the Sky Bet Championship in 2015, before leaving the club.

Following his departure from Deepdale, King joined Scunthorpe United on a free transfer.

He appeared only 36 times in two years at the club, before being loaned out to Stevenage in August 2016.

He has now left the club on a permanent deal.
