Canos, Leeds-linked winger to have Brentford medical prior to £2.5million move

Leeds-linked winger to have Brentford medical prior to £2.5million move

Sky Sports understands that Brentford are poised to complete the signing of Sergi Canos from Norwich City. The 19-year-old is no stranger to Griffin Park, having enjoyed a productive loan spell at the club last season. The Bees are prepared to pay up to £2.5million to bring the youngster back to the club.

Since moving to Carrow Road over the summer on a permanent deal from Premier League giants Liverpool, the teenage has only five appearances in the first-team, starting just one Sky Bet Championship game. Canos has mainly featured in their Under-23 squad, including in various EFL Trophy matches. However he’ll be expecting to play a bigger role back at Brentford.

There were certainly many clubs said to be interested in signing Canos once the January transfer window opened for business earlier in the month. Leeds United were heavily linked with the player and were said to be very high up on the list of potential suitors. The fact he knows the surroundings at Brentford seem to have swayed the decision for Canos, and he could instantly become a key player. It is highly likely that Scott Hogan will leave the club, plus they have been in search for a winger ever since Sullay Kaikai was recalled by parent club Crystal Palace from his loan spell with the Sky Bet Championship mid-table club.

Canos is travelling back down to London to undergo a medical ahead of a move. After a largely forgetful and rather wasteful spell in East Anglia, he shall be looking to get his career back on track.
