Leeds United to welcome two new arrivals before transfer deadline

Championship outfit Leeds United should welcome two new arrivals to the club before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

A deal for Spanish winger Alfonso Pedraza is set to be concluded by Monday evening, with the 20-year-old set to join the club on-loan, with the option for Leeds to sign the winger for a fee of near €10 million if they secure promotion to the Premier League.

Pedraza has made 22 appearances in La Liga 2 this season, scoring six goals and assisting a further eight for a CD Lugo side who sit in 7th place in the standings.

According to reports, parent club Villarreal have paid a €300,000 fee to end the loan at the player’s current club. Primarily operating on the left wing, Alfonso can also play as an attacking midfielder or on the opposite wing.

In addition to Pedraza, the West Yorkshire outfit are also ‘confident’ of a deal to bring in West Ham United forward Ashley Fletcher.

West Ham United’s sale of Dimitri Payet should create opportunity for Leeds United to bring the striker to Elland Road.

The sale of Payet to French side Marseille will free up funds for West Ham to sign Brentford forward Scott Hogan, with reports suggesting that the 24-year-old is set to conclude his move to the Premier League outfit in the coming days.

Brentford value the forward at £15 million, but could reduce their valuation before the window slams shut on all club’s business.

The arrival of Hogan to the London Stadium will allow Fletcher to leave in order to secure more regular game time.

Fletcher has featured in 12 Premier League games so far this season but failed to find the net. His only goal has come in the 4-1 EFL Cup defeat to his former club Manchester United.

The forward has had better luck playing in Premier League 2, scoring three and assisting another in five appearances in the reserve competition.

Garry Monk already has Chris Wood, who currently has 20 goals in all competitions, Souleymane Doukara, Marcus Antonsson and Kemar Roofe as striking options but he is reportedly looking to add reinforcements during the January transfer window.

Leeds currently sit in 4th place in the Sky Bet Championship table following Wednesday night’s 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at Elland Road.
