Preston North End snap up Everton starlet on loan

Preston North End have signed Everton’s Tyias Browning on loan until the end of the season as confirmed by the club website.

The 22-year-old defender is highly rated at Everton, so much so he was given a baptism of fire in the first team as he made his début in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool. But with first team football looking unlikely this season, Browning needed to go out on loan to assist in his development as a player.

And now he’s got a new home for the rest of the season after he made the short move to Preston, signing a deal which will keep him at Deepdale until the end of the season. With the Lilywhites challenging for a spot in the Sky Bet Championship play-off spots, they are hoping that the security that Browning provides in defence and the pace he offers when attacking can help them claim a place in the top six.

Following the completion of the signing, Browning said: “I’m happy to get playing again and I hope to be able to come in and make an impact. It has been quite a frustrating year for me, but I am pleased to be back playing and I am looking forward to getting going.

“I have heard nothing but good things about the club and can’t wait to get started.”

His new head coach Simon Grayson added: “We are delighted to have signed Tyias. He is another versatile player, who will help us with the competition for places.

“Everton hold him in high regard and we beat off competition from a number of Championship clubs for his signature and we are grateful to Everton for allowing him to join us.”
