Aston Villa set to complete Bury youngster deal

Bury boss Chris Brass has revealed to the Bury Times that Aston Villa have matched the club’s valuation of young star Jacob Bedeau.

The 17-year-old broke into the Shakers first-team this season as he made his debut in a 3-2 loss to Millwall in November, aged just 16 at the time. Bedeau has made a further six appearances in the following two months.

Following the League One clash, manager Brass said, “They have got to where our expectations are and they have done their homework, as you would expect from a club of their magnitude,”

“The deal has not just happened overnight. It has been ongoing for a while.

“You have to make sure it is in the best interests of Jacob and the football club. He is going to be a fantastic player.”

In what is reportedly Villa’s third bid for the youngster, Brass also stated he will fight hard to keep Bedeau on loan of the remainder of the season:

“There are little bits I want to work on. I want to bring him back for the rest of the season, that’s what I want to work on in the next couple of days.”

Although personal terms and finer details are still to be agreed upon, the transfer of the highly rated youngster appears to be wrapped up and Bury can focus on escaping the League One relegation zone. The Greater Manchester club are two points from safety and travel to Shrewsbury Town next weekend in a vital clash.

The deal for Steve Bruce’s side will no doubt be a long-term investment but the youngster certainly has talent and potential.

The Championship club have had a busy month, and are still active in the market. Yesterday, Villa bid for Swansea City duo Neil Taylor and Modou Barrow and are keen on Exeter City’s Ollie Watkins
