Southend United are interested in signing Dominic Samuel on loan from Reading according to a report from the Reading Chronicle.
While the 22-year-old striker has featured quite a bit for Reading this season, he has made 15 appearances and has scored twice, many of those appearances came in the cup competitions though his goals did come in the few times he has played in the Sky Championship. With there set to be less cup games in the second half of the season and more strikers returning to fitness that will be ahead of him in the pecking order, Samuel’s time on the pitch is set to become more limited so Reading are willing to loan him out until the end of the season.
This has led to interest from plenty of teams across the Sky Bet Championship and Sky Bet League One but now we know one of the teams looking to sign Samuel. Southend head coach Phil Brown revealed to local press that they wanted to sign Samuel on loan, though it will be tough because of all the competition they face to get his signature.
Samuel came through the Reading academy but most of his appearances have come while out on loan. Since becoming a professional, the striker has played for the likes of Gillingham, Coventry City and Colchester United on temporary deals. However now he looks to depart Berkshire once again as he looks to get regular minutes on the pitch, his new home until May could well be at Southend.
