Oldham Athletic vs Peterborough United – 19:45
Strugglers Oldham host promotion pushing Peterborough at Boundary Park in Sky Bet League One this evening.
The hosts have endured a tough season so far and sit in 23rd place with only 22 points to their name. The team have only managed the single win in 2017 and will face tough opposition in 8th placed Posh. The visitors have turned their season around in recent months but have endured a mixed January so far, beating Swindon last time out after a 5-1 thumping to the hands of Bury before that. Three points in their game in hand will take the Posh to within one point of the play-off places.
It could be a bumper crowd, following an offer of free admission from the Lancashire based side. Posh manager Grant McCann has spoken ahead of the encounter saying to Peterborough Today “We’ve done well in front of big crowds this season,”
“We will enjoy the fact Oldham will have lots of fans. It’s a great gesture by them to let all fans in free and they deserve a packed house.
“To me, it’s the most important match of the season so far. It’s a game in hand and if we win it we will be right in touch again with the top six.”
Manager McCann is expected to name an unchanged starting line-up and there was good news on the injury front today as central defender Jack Baldwin returned to training following his latest knee operation.
A home win stands at 5/3 with 888 Sport, a draw at 9/4 and an away win at 8/5. Both teams to score stands at 3/4 with hot property Lee Angol to bag first standing at a healthy 24/5.
It could be a high scoring affair at Boundary Park with John Sheridan saying “We are going to go all out for three points.”
Over 2.5 goals is available at 26/5.
