Championship sides in chase as Bristol Rovers striker available for £300K

Several Sky Bet Championship clubs are in the chase to sign Bristol Rovers’ Matty Taylor as he is available to buy for £300K according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The 26-year-old striker has quickly shown himself to be a star player as he rose up the leagues alongside the Gasheads. As they were promoted from Sky Bet League Two last season, Taylor scored 28 goals in 50 appearances and was key as they rose up into Sky Bet League One. The jump up a league didn’t bother him too much either as this season has seen hit the back of the net 19 times in 32 games, which has attracted plenty of attention from Championship teams.

It was initially thought that Taylor would cost any interested party a lot of money because of how highly regarded he is at Bristol Rovers but this report suggests that he could be available for a bargain fee. A release clause in his contract states that the West Country club must accept any offer of £300K made for Taylor, which has attracted a lot of attention from teams who want a bargain striker during this transfer window.

Currently chasing Taylor are Brentford, Norwich City, QPR, Sheffield Wednesday and Wolves who all need new strikers as they look to push for promotion. And while most could spend big money in their search for a new forward, they can’t resist the chance to sign one of the hottest players in the Sky Bet EFL for such a small fee.
