Zola adds non league defender to Blues squad

Birmingham City have completed the signing of defender Dan Scarr from Northern Premier Division club Stourbridge for an undisclosed fee according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 22-year-old centre back has helped The Glassboys to fourth position in the league table this season as well as playing his part in the club’s journey to the FA Cup Third Round and the player will now look to develop his career further at St Andrews.

Birmingham City have completed the signing of Scarr on a two-and-a-half year deal after the player enjoyed a successful two week trial spell with the club. The centre back featured for The Blues development squad and impressed watching City boss Zola enough to earn his chance with the club.

Scarr started his career as a youth team player with Worcester City before enjoying spells with Causeway United and Redditch United. The youngster joined Stourbridge in summer 2015 and the player has gone on to be a virtual ever-present at the War Memorial Athletic Ground with Scarr making 81 appearances for the club.

With the defender having been officially unveiled as a Birmingham City player, Scarr will initially continue to work with the club’s development squad with a view to forcing his way into the first team picture.
