Hogan, Scott Hogan finally set to complete Premier League move

Scott Hogan finally set to complete Premier League move

Sky Sports understands that Brentford striker Scott Hogan is finally set to complete a move to Premier League side West Ham United this week. It is understood that the supposedly stalling of the deal is because of the situation involving Hammers forward Dimitri Payet, who wants to leave the club this month.

The 24-year-old striker was an unused substitute for the defeat against Newcastle United last weekend, and a few days ago he was left out altogether by head coach Dean Smith for the away loss against Wigan Athletic. The former Walsall boss said that a phone call late on Friday that Hogan received hinted that a move was on the cards.

The player has also been struggling with a slight hamstring problem, and given he was seriously injured last year, Hogan is keen to avoid picking up another injury that would thwart a move to the London Stadium this month. Smith says that he does feel sorry for Hogan in a way, as he was keen to play at the weekend but is wary of the situation,

“Scott Hogan has trained all week with us but had a tight hamstring yesterday. He had a phone call last night that has turned his head as there is a bid coming imminently.
“I have spoken to him and it is not the kid’s fault: he wants to play football but he doesn’t want to risk getting injured.
“I fully understand that but I think if he has a tight hamstring in February he plays. He is being starved of playing football at the moment when he wants to play.”
It is very much a case of watch this space regarding Hogan at this moment in time. It would be fair to say it looks like his Brentford career his over, and that an adventure with West Ham United is likely to begin fairly soon.
