Bradford City: inclusion of Leon Clarke dismissed as “rubbish” – reporter

According to Sky Sports sources yesterday, Bradford City striker James Hanson is the subject of interest from Sheffield United.

To sweeten the deal, the Blades were said, according to a Sheffield Star journalist (tweet – below) to be willing to include striker Leon Clarke as a makeweight

Clarke only moved to the Blades in the summer from Bury, signing a three-year deal. He has been tipped to leave Chris Wilder’s side after just half a season, with game time being the issue.

Hanson joined City from non-league neighbours Guiseley, where a transfer fee was set by tribunal at £7,500. Hanson juggled a job at his local Co-Op supermarket with semi-professional football at Guiseley. Upon signing full-time with Bradford City, it didn’t take the popular striker to endear himself to the Bantams faithful.

This season, Bradford’s number nine has often found himself on the bench and struggling for game time. He has only managed to score four goals in his 20 appearances so far this canpaign, markedly down on previous seasons outputs.

However, on the inclusion of Blades’ striker Leon Clarke in any deal for James Hanson, this is said to be a no-go according to Bradford Telegraph & Argus reporter Simon Parker (tweet – below).

With some sources saying that Leon Clarke is to be included in any deal taking Hanson from Bradford City to the Steel City, Parker’s rebuttal scotches the likelihood of this happening.

You can’t get more unequivocal than a quoted “absolute rubbish” to draw a line under something as Parker does on the Leon Clarke issue.
