Huddersfield Town: new striker Quaner talks about signing for Terriers

Earlier today Huddersfield Town announced that they had signed Dusseldorf-born German/Ghanaian Collin Quaner for an undisclosed sum from 2.Bundesliga side Union Berlin.

The 6ft 3in striker, who will wear Town legend Andy Booth’s #23 shirt has singed on as a Terrier for three-and-a-half years with Huddersfield manager David Wagner saying that “to bring in a player like him in January is rare.”

Wagner went on to tell the Town website that they’d been looking for someone with different qualities than what was already on the books at the John Smith’s Stadium. In acquiring Quaner, Wagner thinks that they might just have achieved that.

Wagner commented as much on this saying:

“We wanted to use this transfer window, if possible, to find a number nine with different qualities to the players we already have in the squad and Collin is ideal for this. He is a very aggressive striker with power, strength, and a direct style of play, but importantly he has an unbelievable working attitude that will fit the ‘Terriers Identity’ perfectly.”

Quaner has 14 2.Bundesliga appearances to his name this season, scoring seven times and providing five assists for Union Berlin. These seven goals and five assists form part of the total of 28 goals and 17 assists from his 159 appearances in German football.
