Robins youngster attracting lots of attention

Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has confirmed that young midfielder Josh Brownhill is attracting plenty of transfer interest from other clubs according to the Bristol Post.

The Robins signed the 21-year-old Warrington born midfield ace from Preston North End in the summer after his contract with the Lancashire club expired and the player has become an instant success at Ashton Gate.

Brownhill has made 17 appearances so far this season for Bristol City and Robins boss Johnson has admitted that the phone has not stopped ringing as other clubs keep a watchful eye on the player.

“There has been interest, but obviously we want Josh to stay, because we see him as an important player for the future” Johnson told the Bristol Post.

“There have been some verbal bids from certain people, but we have given tham all a flat ‘no’. We want to keep him and Josh is a player who will only get better.

“Don’t forget, he is still only 21 and has already won two promotions. He has a fantastic appetite to improve and he has done very well as an attacking threat.”

Former Warrington Town and Manchester United scholar Brownhill spent four seasons with Preston North End prior to his move to Bristol City. The player made 64 appearances for The Lilywhites and scored six goals after graduating from the club’s youth team set up.
