Aston Villa, Brighton and Norwich in chase to sign Fleetwood Town star

Aston Villa, Brighton and Hove Albion and Norwich City are looking to sign Fleetwood Town’s Amari’i Bell according to a report from the Daily Star.

The 23-year-old defender started his career at Solihull Moors before being picked up by Birmingham City, though he only made one appearance for the club. Instead the bulk of his first team experience came from loan spells at the likes of Nuneaton Town, Kidderminster Harriers and Swindon Town. He would then go on to leave Birmingham and join Fleetwood in 2015.

And Bell has made Birmingham regret ever letting go of him as long as he put in a number of great performances as the Cod Army marched into 6th place in Sky Bet League One. He even sealed his place as a fan favourite when his first goal for the club came against their fierce rivals Southport. But this form has been noticed as several teams from the Sky Bet Championship are now interested in him.

Aston Villa head coach Steve Bruce has made no secret of the fact he is looking to strengthen the squad and while he current has Jordan Amavi as his starting left back, he is now looking for a new back up after Aly Cissohko was allowed to join Olympiakos on loan. With Bell being familiar to the region, though he may find it tough for the fans to warm to him considering his Birmingham past, he could be the ideal fit.

On the other hand, Brighton are also looking to strengthen that position as they challenge for automatic promotion while Norwich need a replacement for Martin Olsson after he was sold to Swansea City earlier in the week.
