Robins striker moves to Highbury

Bristol City’s former Welsh Under-21 international striker Wes Burns has joined Sky Bet League One club Fleetwood Town on a three-and-a-half year deal according to BBC Sport.

The 22-year-old Cardiff born hotshot spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen after failing to break into the first team picture at Ashton Gate and the player will now try to launch his career with The Cod Army.

Fleetwood Town have secured the signing of Burns for an undisclosed fee. The player is set to enjoy his second spell at Highbury with the striker having scored five goals in 14 appearances during a loan spell on the Fylde coast last season.

Burns is a product of Bristol City’s academy system after signing for the club following his release by Cardiff City. The striker went on to make 54 senior appearances for The Robins but scored just four goals. The player has played a bit part role for the club in recent seasons and has spent time on loan with Forest Green Rovers, Oxford United and Cheltenham Town prior to his short stint at Fleetwood Town 12 months ago.

Fleetwood Town could hand a second debut to Burns against Coventry City at The Ricoh Arena on Saturday.
