Norwich City to hijack Aston Villa’s move for Nottingham Forest star

Norwich City are set to hijack Aston Villa’s move to sign Nottingham Forest’s Henri Lansbury according to a report from The Sun.

After initially competing with Premier League side Watford and Derby County, it seemed like Villa had beaten their competition and were set to sign the 26-year-old midfielder. They were taking advantage of his contract situation as his current deal is set to expire in the summer and Lansbury resisting any offers from his current club, the East Midlands side are willing to sell up to make sure they don’t lose him on a free transfer.

But at the last minute, Aston Villa may get beaten to the signing of Lansbury as one of the other teams that were relegated from the Premier League last season are looking to hijack the deal and sign him for themselves. Norwich are also interested in Lansbury and with the deal still taking some time to complete, the Canaries believe they can move in, make a great offer, and snatch Lansbury away from the clutches of Aston Villa.

Since being relegated, both Aston Villa and Norwich have had a disappointing time in the Sky Bet Championship. Villa had a poor start to the season and have already sacked one manager, Roberto Di Matteo, since the start of the year. However under new head coach Steve Bruce things have started to turn around. Norwich had a bright start to their return to the second tier but poor form started to creep in the last few months which has seen their head coach Alex Neil come under a lot of pressure.
