Villa chase Wolfsburg winger

The Birmingham Mail have reported that Aston Villa are on the hunt for Anton Donkor, a 19-year-old winger from German club Wolfsburg.

Originally printed in the German newspaper, Bild, the move is said to be more in mind for the future, as oppose to now. He has, so far, not made an appearance for Wolfsburg.

His current contract is set to expire in 2020 and it is thought that he has made an excellent impression playing his current club’s second XI. However, despite that, he has also been told that the prospect of first team football is unlikely at the Volkswagen arena.

It has been reported that should the interest go any further, Donkor will train with the Birmingham-based side until any confirmation is made.

The Wolfsburg second XI that he currently represents, compete in the lower reaches of German football. With a bright future likely to be ahead of him, it could be a well taken gamble from Villa should anything materialize from the situation.

Elsewhere, Bruce is facing calls from the club’s supporters to consider re-signing Robbie Keane. The Irishman, strongly linked with a move to Preston North End in recent times, is said to be returning to the English game in the near future following a spell playing in the MLS.

It is also thought that a pursuit for Watford’s Adlene Guedioura, is very much underway.

The playmaker is said to be the subject of interest worth £3,000,000 from the club.

Nottingham Forest’s Henri Lansbury, however, continues to be Bruce’s first choice target.
