Brighton and Hove Albion list Blackburn Rovers midfielder as target

Brighton and Hove Albion are targeting the signing of Blackburn Rovers’ Jason Lowe according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old midfielder, who can also play at right back, is a favourite at Blackburn having come through their academy to become a first teamer, but while he has now been at the Lancashire club for a stunning 13 years, his time at Ewood Park may be about to end. His contract is set to expire at the end of the season and Blackburn may be set to cash in on the player so they don’t lose him on a free transfer in June.

And his contract situation has alerted a number of clubs to a potential bargain. Premier League sides West Bromwich Albion and Hull City are said to be considering making a bid but Brighton will also be looking to persuade Lowe to leave Blackburn a few months earlier than expected. The Seagulls could potentially lose one of their own star midfielders as Dale Stephens is rumoured to be leaving the club at some stage in the next few months and are eyeing potential replacements in case he does leave. With Lowe having plenty of potential, and the ability to step up into the Premier League, he would be the ideal replacement for Stephens.

But the decision will lie with Lowe, who could either decide to stay at Blackburn or move straight into the Premier League with Hull or West Brom. He could however take the risk of moving to another Sky Bet Championship that have a big chance of being promoted this year by joining Brighton.
