Huddersfield Town set to sign RB Leipzig striker

Huddersfield Town are set to sign RB Leipzig’s Terrence Boyd according to reports from Germany via the Huddersfield Daily Examiner.

The Terriers have surprised everyone by challenging for promotion this season, though that bid was derailed yesterday when they were beaten 2-0 by Yorkshire and promotion rivals Sheffield Wednesday. But they know that if they want to stay in the top six, they are going to need extra reinforcements and they have been looking to make signings during this transfer window.

And now they are close to completing a signing as they are nearing a deal for Boyd. The 25-year-old striker, who is an international for the USA, is well known to Huddersfield’s head coach David Wagner having worked with him at Borussia Dortmund when Wagner was their B team manager and now he is looking to reunite them in West Yorkshire. This season Boyd recovered from a knee injury and has been in great scoring form for their B team ever since. But with his contract set to expire in the summer, a departure was always expected and he looks set to move to England.

If there has been one problem that Huddersfield have needed to sort this season, it has been the lack of a true goalscorer. Nahki Wells, who has been linked with a move away from Huddersfield, usually fits that role but has only scored seven times this season which is far below their usual standard. The Terriers current highest scorer is Elias Kachunga who has scored eight times, but he is only at the club on loan.
