Sheffield Wednesday have told Sergiu Bus, Claude Dielna, Lewis McGugan and Felipe Melo that they can leave the club during the January transfer window according to a report from the Sheffield Star.
It’s been clear since the summer that the trio of Bus, Dielna and McGugan are looking to leave Hillsborough as they weren’t given a place in the squad or even a shirt number. And now it has been made clear once again that they are looking to get rid of these players during this transfer window.
And in addition to that, it looks like Melo will be leaving South Yorkshire. However unlike these three, the coaching staff believe there is potential for him to return and break into the first team. So that means when he leaves Wednesday, it will only be on a loan deal so he can have another crack at being a regular for the Owls.
And it seems like the three who will be leaving Wednesday for good this winter do have new homes lined up. Reported earlier in the week, Dinamo Bucharest have been targeting Dielna with their general manager Adrian Mutu enjoying working with the defender when they were at AC Ajaccio while McGugan could be set to drop down into Sky Bet League One with Bolton Wanderers wanting the creative midfielder to help in their attempt to get promoted. Bus is the only one where no reports have suggested where he could end up.
When asked about this, Wednesday head coach Carlos Carvalhal said: “The players who are available know that they can move but it is not in my hands.”
“I have told them face-to-face they can leave or go on loan.”
“Of course, the players want to achieve the best club and salary they can in negotiations. “They agree they must find a team where they can be happy so that is the situation.”
“As a manager, I don’t like players inside the building that know they can leave and they stay there. Nobody likes that. “It is not good to us and it is not good to the players.”
