With Nottingham Forest’s takeover still very much uncertain, there has been a number of rumours flying around.
Obviously, the highest documented has been the transfer of Henri Lansbury to Aston Villa.
However, in recent days it has come to the attention that their prospective new owners have taken an interest in making a managerial change at The City Ground.
Former Burton Albion and Birmingham manager Gary Rowett has been the man linked with the role. He would obviously take over from Philippe Montanier.
A former employee of Derby County during his playing days, Rowett left Birmingham under a cloud last month. The reasons were unclear, but following a takeover – he was replaced by Gianfranco Zola.
His record at Birmingham was a proud one. When he first took the job at St Andrew’s – Birmingham were staring down the barrel. They were, following a poor start under Lee Clark, just one place above Blackpool at the bottom of the league.
He transformed that team almost instantly and they had risen to 10th by the end of that season (2014-15).
He was a fan favourite at the club and that’s what made his sacking even more unexpected.
They were 7th at the time of his departure and looking in a promising position to target the playoff places.
Now, he looks to be the man to guide Forest out of their current predicament.
It has been well reported that an approach has been made for Rowett. This will all, of course, be subjected to the takeover being completed in the near future.
Here is how Forest fans have reacted to being linked with Rowett:

Don't know why certain #nffc fans expect a better manager than Rowett. We've been absolutely gash for years and run into the ground

I wouldn't be confident Rowett would defo come in, seems like step backwards in his career 2 me. Would be astute appointment #nffc
