LEEDS UNITED: Chris Wood – a changed man

Leeds United have arguably been the surprise package of the Sky Bet Championship so far this season.

They currently find themselves comfortably in the Play-Off places, and there is a real sense of hope at Elland Road this year.

Garry Monk appears to have done a fantastic job in turning around a team which has disappointed in the league for so many seasons.

But one thing that has perhaps pleased Leeds United fans more than anything is the form of front man Chris Wood this season.

The striker had suffered a lot of stick during his time at Elland Road, but he has really come into his own this season, and is up there among the top goal scorers in the Sky Bet Championship.

Last season, Wood managed a total of 13 goals all season. He played for 2883 minutes, according to whoscored.com.

This season, he’s already hit that tally, scoring 13 goals in just 1841 minutes on the pitch. This has seen him put in four man of the match performances, compared to just the one last season.

He’s scoring important goals as well. He bagged in the 3-2 victory at Carrow Road against fellow promotion hopefuls Norwich City, as well as in the home fixture with Reading.

It remains to be seen whether it is down to Garry Monk that Chris Wood has transformed in this way, but one thing is for sure, and that is that as long as it continues, Leeds United fans will not care.
