West Ham agree £15 million fee for Championship forward

Premier League side West Ham have agreed a £15 million deal for Brentford forward Scott Hogan, according to the Sun.

The 24-year-old has been a target for the Hammers early into the January transfer window, and have seen multiple bids rejected by Brentford.

Now, according to reports, Hogan is set to make the move to the London Stadium after the Premier League outfit matched The Bees’ £15 million valuation.

Hogan has scored 14 goals in 25 league appearances this season. Glenn Murray and Dwight Gayle are the only strikers in the second tier to boast a better record so far during this campaign.

The forward made the switch to Brentford from Rochdale in July 2014, but has only become a regular feature in the first team this year after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee the season after joining the London club.

Promotion hopefuls Reading have already shown previous interest in the forward, having tabled a £9 million bid before the January transfer window opened.

Another Championship side, Newcastle United, have also looked into the possibility of signing Hogan, but were been told they must pay £15 million, the figure the Bees valued the striker at before the January window.

Speaking about the striker, Brentford boss Dean Smith discussed the speculation by saying “He’ll be in a marketplace and the market tells you the value of it. The market has set its stall as to the price. I think his goals record puts him into a bracket.

“He takes each day as it comes as, against Cardiff, he felt he should have scored. He isn’t being distracted and is very much looking forward to taking on Norwich and getting chances and scoring them.”

Despite Hogan’s goals, Brentford currently sit in 14th place in the Sky Bet Championship table, securing 33 points in 25 games, with nine wins and six draws.
