Sheffield Wednesday’s Sam Hutchinson has come the 2nd player in a days to sign a new contract with the club as confirmed by the club website.
As Monday turned into Tuesday this morning, Wednesday announced the news that star forward Fernando Forestieri had penned a one-year contract extension with the club that would keep him at Hillsborough until 2020. But now Wednesday’s good news keeps on coming after they announced that Hutchinson has signed a contract extension that will also keep him at the club until 2020.
The 27-year-old midfielder, who can also play in defence, has been one of the club’s best players this season after being able to tone down some of his discipline problems yet also keep his hard hitting way of play that helped him to win over the fans. And to make sure that no other teams get any idea to try and make a move to sign him, they have signed him to a new deal that means his contract now lasts three-and-a-half years.
Hutchinson initially signed on loan from Chelsea back in 2014 and after impressing during those spells, he was signed to a permanent deal during the summer. During his three years at Hillsborough, he has been able to move past the injuries which forced him to retire from football for a while and become a key member of the squad. After signing this new deal, the versatile player will be concentrating on getting the Owls promoted from the Sky Bet Championship as they are currently 6th in the league.
