Leeds United are set to be priced out of a move for Norwich City’s Sergi Canos according to a report from the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The 19-year-old midfielder signed for Norwich this summer after they beat a number of other clubs to his signature, but despite splashing out a big fee for him, he is yet to be used in the first team in a major way. He has struggled to hold down a spot and his only goals have come in the EFL Cup. This has lead to a number of their Sky Bet Championship teams being interested in Canos as they look to prise him away from Carrow Road.
After initially being reported that teams would be looking to sign the Spaniard on loan, it now appears that the move will be a permanent one with Norwich willing to cut their losses and sell him for £2.5m. But that is set to be an issue with Leeds as they look to beat Canos’ former club Brentford to his signature.
In another transfer news story, Brentford appear to be close to selling their star striker Scott Hogan to West Ham United for a fee believed to be around £12m. This is set to give the Bees a huge transfer kitty to play with for the January transfer window and with Leeds not having a big budget to spend this winter, there is no way that they will be able to match want Brentford will spend to sign the former Liverpool man.
