Birmingham City are interested in signing their former midfielder Jordon Mutch according to a report from the Croydon Advertiser.
The 25-year-old midfielder is currently contracted to Crystal Palace but despite starting in their last game, a 0-0 draw in the FA Cup Third Round with Bolton Wanderers, he has struggled to break into the first team this year and now could be set to leave Selhurst Park in order to get more minutes on the pitch.
And with Mutch being a seasoned performer when he had played in the Sky Bet Championship, a few teams from the league are interested. Aston Villa were rumoured to be making a move for him earlier in the week and last month Reading head coach Jaap Stam confirmed that they were also interested in signing the former Cardiff City man.
But now Mutch could find himself back at a former club as Birmingham City are also now planning to make a move for him. Having initially been at the Derby County academy, he decided to join Birmingham over the likes of Liverpool and Aston Villa and came close to making a match day squad aged just 15-years-old before the Premier League’s child protection rules taking his place in the squad. After becoming a regular and key player in the squad, he was soon snapped up by Cardiff City and helped them to get promoted to the Premier League, but now that he has found himself at Crystal Palace has has seen himself being frozen out of the first team and could soon be returning back to the team that made him.
