Sky Bet Championship side QPR are close to securing the services of tricky winger Kazenga LuaLua on loan for the rest of the season from divisional rivals Brighton, according to reports.

Brighton & Hove Albion winger Kazenga LuaLua is close to joining Championship rivals QPR on loan for the rest of the season. The move is expected to be confirmed by both clubs later this afternoon, subject to a medical and paperwork formalities.

The pacey and tricky winger has fallen out of favour this term at the Amex Stadium with Brighton’s depth in the wide positions. With the Sky Bet Championship side top of the pile currently, it’s unlikely that the Congolese midfielder will be part of manager Chris Hughton’s plans anytime soon.

The Sky Bet Championship leaders have fantastic depth on the wings. With Jiri Skalak, Anthony Knockaert, Jamie Murphy and Solly March, who recently returned for a year out with injury, all available it’s difficult to see where LuaLua could fit currently.

It was reported that LuaLua wanted a loan move during the summer transfer window however Hughton was wary of the Championship’s gruelling schedule and decided against the idea. Since then, his prospects of first team football have deteriorated even further due to the increased competition for places at the Amex Stadium, his own injuries and suspension troubles.

A move to QPR would work out well for all though. LuaLua would get his playing time whilst adding much needed depth to the struggling the London sides squad.

Don’t expect this to be Ian Holloway’s and QPR’s last move in the January transfer window as they look to pull themselves away from a relegation battle
