Fulham in discussions over Belgian Under-21 midfielder signing

Sky Sports reports that Fulham are interested in signing Standard Liege midfielder Ibrahima Cisse this month. Slavisa Jokanovic is keen on adding a hard-tackling midfielder to his squad. The Belgian Under-21 international only joined the Belgian club over the summer, and has made 13 appearances.

Scott Parker is still on the books at Craven Cottage but the 36-year-old is expected to retire at the end of the season and has been making steps into the coaching sphere. 22-year-old Cisse could make an instant impact and possible long term if this is indeed a permanent move.

It is expected to be a fairly busy month at Craven Cottage with regards to players coming in and Jokanovic will be hopeful not many, if any, will depart. Chris Martin still wants to head back to parent club Derby County but the Serb maintains he will remain where he is until the end of the season, when his loan contract expires. David Nugent was a transfer target but he is expected to seal a move to Derby in the coming days.

Should Cisse join the club, it wouldn’t be the first time that the Cottagers have targeted the Belgian Pro League for new recruits. Denis Odoi and Neeskens Kebano both made the move to the London-based club last year and previously played for Lokeren and Genk respectively, both of which are divisional rivals to Standard Liege.
