Championship club Leeds United are expected to confirm their first January signing in the coming days with Pablo Hernandez joining the club.
Reports emerged late last week that stated that the attacking midfielder would be joining the Whites on a permanent deal following his loan deal coming to an end.
The 31-year-old has spent the first half of the season on-loan from Qatari outfit Al-Arabi, but has returned to his parent club following last week’s 3-0 win over Rotherham United. Now, it is expected that Leeds will announce the Hernandez deal early this week.
Hernandez made 15 appearances in the Championship for the Whites, scoring three goals and assisting a further three.
The deal will see the attacking midfielder stay with the club until the summer, where Leeds will then have the option to extend his contract by a further 12 months.
Leeds have recently been boosted by the news that Andrea Radrizzani has purchased a 50% stake in the club with a view to owning 100% in June.
The West Yorkshire club announced on Wednesday last week that Radrizzani had purchased a 50% stake, with current owner Massimo Cellino owning the remaining 50%.
Garry Monk’s side currently sit in 5th place in the Sky Bet Championship table following their 3-0 win over Rotherham United.
The Whites travel to Cambridge United in the FA Cup on Monday evening looking to book a spot in the fourth round.
