Aston VIlla: Henri Lansbury update

The Birmingham Mail have summarised how the pending Nottingham Forest takeover, will affect the future of their captain, Henri Lansbury.

They have revealed that interested club, Aston Villa will have to wait until any takeover is complete – before hearing whether their interest in the Midfielder will be successful

The club has been waiting since Tuesday for an answer from Forest, for the player who has also interested the likes of Derby and Watford in recent times.

Lansbury missed this weekends FA cup defeat to Wigan, as talk surrounding his future continues.

Philip Montanier, the club’s manager, said prior to the fixture that he chose to leave him out, as he felt his head would be in the wrong place.

(From The Nottingham Post) “There is nothing new to report,” he said.

“We talked among ourselves about whether he should play, but iI felt I couldn’t have players playing who weren’t at 100%.

“We took the decision together. I explained to Henri that he would not be in the team. He is not on strike.

“We will wait to see how the situation evolves. We need the takeover to happen so we can make decisions.”

Meanwhile, Villa are thought to be put off their pursuit of Jordan Rhodes, due to the high fee demanded by his current club, Middlesbrough.

The transfer that occurred the other way (Rudy Gestede) has potentially paved the way for the former Blackburn to leave the club.

Both players have been identified by manager Steve Bruce – as he looks to mount a playoff charge in the second half of the season.
