Everybody has a bad day at the office once in a while. Orders are messed up, deadlines are missed and bosses enraged. It comes with the territory, it’s par for the course so to speak.
For footballers it is no different to, say, teachers, bank workers or dustbin men. Everyone has one of those ‘mare days. Usually for footballers this comes on the pitch on a day when nothing seems to go right. Passes are mis-hit, a diving header clearance is steered lke an Exocet past a bemused goalkeeper,a penalty is sent so high above the bar that NASA can track it…almost.
However, for Henri Lansbury, Nottingham Forest captain, it was his team that were having a bad day at the office in losing 2-0 to Wigan in the FA Cup. Lansbury’s day was pretty good by all accounts (below)

Whilst his Forest teammates were surrendering meekly in the FA Cup, captain Lansbury was on the golf course honing his driving. Lansbury is, of course, the focus of a lot of transfer interest from other clubs and is definitely one of Forest’s biggest assets on the pitch. But his choice of pastime today ahsn’t gone down that well with supporters of the club that he both represents and, indeed, captains.
Henri Lansbury shouts ‘Fore’ – Forest fans react in Twitter furore.
Firstly, with regard to the above tweet, Forest fans have definitely taken umbrage at what is more than a snub, and more a hefty kick in the gonads.
wow what a show of disrespect to the forest fans that have supported him

Heads obviously in the right place for a spot of golf eh 👊💦

ask him why his head wasn't right to play for the team he's contracted to!

However, away from the original tweet, the reponses are more varieed and, in some replies, much more brutal and visceral in their language. This fan (below) is seeing Lansbury’s golfscapade on quite a rational level.

Forest fan Matty simply relays what the manager’s thinking was in regard to Lansbury not playing in today’s FA Cup loss to Wigan.
#NFFC boss denies that Lansbury is on strike but says he isn't 100% because of transfer situation so chose not to play him today. #AVFC

Despite the anger of some Forest fans, Steve still finds time to have a bit of a chuckle about it.

Forest fan Jay Jay simply says what probably a lot of Forest fans are screaming in their heads – why didn’t you just stay inside Henr?
Can't blame Lansbury for wanting to leave, but it was a mistake to be seen out in public. Should of just kept his head down #nffc

For Martin should any form of leaving tweet be forthcoming from Lansbury should he leave Forest, he has a definite place where Lansbury can self-insert it.

This Forest fan has thought long, and hard about this response to the situation – beautifully measured it is too.
Don't you see the irony in the golf picture 1) no sight of Lansbury 2) nowhere near the ball 3) let the opposition have it #nffc

So, along with a hopeful takeover on Tuesday, and with it a full-on change in regime, it also appears that Forest may well be looking at losing their club cpatain too. Not that many commenting after today’s escapades on the golf course will care.
