Scunthorpe United are on the verge of making their first signing of the January transfer window in the form of striker Craig Davies from Championship side Wigan Athletic, as per reports.
Reports this evening suggest that Wigan Athletic striker Craig Davies is set to sign for Scunthorpe on a loan deal until the end of the seaosn. Radio Humberside broke the news via their Twitter page this afternoon.

Striker Craig Davies has been in and out of the Latics team this season making just 14 appearances for the club despite their poor performance in the Sky Bet Championship. In those 14 appearances for the club this campaign Davies has netted on just one occasion which came in the 1-1 draw with Birmingham in all the way back in August.
The powerful striker originally joined Wigan on a free transfer from Bolton back in July 2015 and has gone on to make only eight starts in the league for the Latics.
The 30-year-old is a well travelled striker having spent time at a number of other clubs including stints at Oxford, Wolves, Oldham, Brighton, Chesterfield and Barnsley to name a few. The strikers most successful spell came at Yorkshire side Chesterfield where he scored 25 goals in 45 appearances for the Spireites.
The arrival of Davies will certainly add competition for places among the strikers at Scunthorpe who already have Paddy Madden, Tom Hopper, Kevin van Veen and Jonathon Margetts at their disposal.
With Scunthorpe United already top scorers in Sky Bet League One with 48 goals to their name and currently sitting in third position, this could be the season that sees the Lincolnshire side promoted back to the Sky Bet championship.
