Cardiff City have made their second signing of the day after completing a deal to sign Ibrahim Meite from Harrow Borough as confirmed by the club website.
Earlier today, the Bluebirds strengthened their side by completing a deal to sign Greg Halford from Rotherham United for an undisclosed deal, with the hope being that he’ll instantly be able to improve their defence so they can stay in the Sky Bet Championship this season. However the signing of Meite is for the complete opposite reason.
The 20-year-old striker is seen more as a player who can develop into a first teamer than one that can immediately make an impact but he has shown plenty of form in the Isthmian League. This season for Harrow, he has scored 17 goals in 30 appearances and helped the tiny non-league club get into the FA Cup First Round, a brilliant achievement for them.
After the signing was completed, Cardiff head coach Neil Warnock said: “He is an exciting prospect,”
“I like the look of him and it’s not a difficult situation as there’s not a fee.
“It’s just a hunch that I had when I watched him play. We are restructuring the whole U23 situation – he’s probably not going to be straight into my First Team squad, but he will train with us.”
“He’s got a couple of years’ contract and in that time I hope he can establish himself. He’s got the attributes, and if what I can see is fulfilled, he’ll be a really good acquisition for us.”
