Bolton Wanderers and Scunthorpe United in chase to sign Cardiff City exile

Bolton Wanderers and Scunthorpe United are in a fight to try and sign Cardiff City’s Adam Le Fondre according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon via Wales Online.

Currently, the 30-year-old striker is on loan at Wigan Athletic but considering he has only made 11 appearances for the Latics, scoring just the one goal, reports are suggesting that his deal at the DW Stadiun could be terminated as he could be forced to look for a new home.

Under new head coach Neil Warnock, Cardiff are finally trying to cut down on their massive wage bill and they’ve already made some progress in doing that after shockingly releasing Lex Immers today. And with Le Fondre having no obvious future with the Bluebirds, they are going to try and get rid for good during this January transfer window.

This has attracted the attention of two of the leading teams in Sky Bet League One, Bolton and Scunthorpe. These teams currently sit in 2nd and 3rd respectively and want to get automatic promotion rather than being left in the lottery of the Sky Bet play-offs, so are looking to strengthen their squad during this transfer window. And for both teams, signing a striker as highly respected and admired as Le Fondre could be the path to doing that.

Le Fondre has been on loan at Bolton before and was a fan favourite there during that deal, so it would seem like they are the favourites to sign him. But Bolton are only willing to sign him on loan while Scunthorpe appear that they would be willing to sign him on a permanent deal.
