Huddersfield to sign another promising Chelsea youngster on loan

The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea forward Izzy Brown will sign for Huddersfield Town until the end of the season after having his loan spell with Championship strugglers Rotherham United cut short. He will become the second Chelsea player to join the Terriers on loan, with Kasey Palmer already at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Over a year ago, when Jose Mourinho was still in charge of the Stamford Bridge club, have picked out Brown as a possible future England international. The 19-year-old has made a decent impression at the New York Stadium in the first part of the season, playing 20 times for bottom of the table Millers. He has played under three managers during that time as well.

He now swaps a relegation battle for a promotion push, with Antonio Conte feeling as though his development would be aided by playing under highly-rated manager David Wagner, who has been linked with some high profile job roles in the last few months. Their brand of football is seen as one of the most attractive in the English second tier and is a big reason why they are challenging the top spots this season so far.

Whilst this will be a big blow to Rotherham, who will lose one of their key men, Birmingham City will also be disappointed. Gianfranco Zola had been hoping to use his contacts and overall status at Chelsea to snap the player up for the second half of the season himself. Birmingham are therefore set to focus their attentions elsewhere, with Granada midfielder Rene Krhin set to be their first signing of the January transfer window. The Slovenian international will join for £2million.
