The central midfielder started his playing career at Sky Bet League Two side Crewe Alexandra before making his move to Leeds United in June 2013 where he’s gone on to make over 100 appearances for the West Yorkshire side.
Murphy made 37 appearances in the Sky Bet Championship last season for Leeds United meaning he has plenty of experience at this level which could really help Burton Albion beat the drop this term.
Murphy will be eligible to play in tomorrow’s Emirates FA Cup tie against Watford at Vicarage Road and will wear the squad number 30 during his time at the Pirelli Stadium.
Talking about his move to Burton Albion’s media department, Murphy stated: “As soon as I found out there was a chance of coming here I really wanted to make it happen.
“It’s a very ambitious club and they’ve proved that in the last few years with the promotions. With the manager that’s here I’ve always wanted to try and play for him and hopefully I can help the team do well and finish the season good.”
Brewers boss Nigel Clough spoke about the loan signing: “Luke is another experienced Championship player to add to our squad. He’s a midfielder that played 38 times for Leeds last season, and he’s only 27 years old. He has a lot of experience so we hope he will bring that to the team, he’s a good addition for us.”
