Aston Villa

SPECULATION: Young forward’s future takes a twist

The Birmingham Mail have revealed that young forward, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy has been axed from Villa’s first team preparations. The youngster has failed to agree to a contract extension at Villa Park.

Steve Bruce, the club’s manager, allegedly featured Hepburn-Murphy in their recent fixture against Cardiff City, on the knowledge that he was close to agreeing on a new deal at the club. However, it seems negotiations have taken a turn for the worst.

After almost a year of negotiations – he was expected to put pen to paper on a new ‘bumper’ contract this week.

Those negotiations appear to have hit a stumbling block and as a result, he won’t be in the squad to face Tottenham Hotspur, in the FA Cup, this weekend.

Steve Bruce said when questioned:

“He (Hepburn-Murphy) won’t be involved.

“We have made a fantastic offer to the young boy but until he commits he won’t be involved.”

It is rumoured, that the offer, would have made him the highest paid Villa youth player – at his age.

“Until he commits to us, I won’t commit to him,” said Bruce.

“I would rather feature a young player who will commit. Whether that be outside or from within.”

The local newspaper also explained that his first start for the club was also expected to come on Saturday. Now though, it appears he will be as distant from the starting XI, as he ever has been before.

Despite Bruce’s stance, the contract remains on offer to the forward. It’ll be interesting to see where developments take the saga.

Are you prepared to give up on the youngster, Villa fans?
