Aston Villa midfielder wanted by clubs in China and Portugal

Aston Villa midfielder Leandro Bacuna is wanted by a host of clubs from abroad according to the Birmingham Mail

The Villa midfielder is being courted by clubs in China, Portugal and Turkey according to the article.

Leandro Bacuna has spent the last four season with the Villains since joining from Dutch club FC Groningen in 2013 for around £3m.

During his time in the Midlands, Bacuna has made over 100 appearances for the claret and blues often featuring as a midfielder but has sometimes played at left-back when needed.

Leandro Bacuna has started the last four matches under Steve Bruce including the win over Burton on Boxing Day where he scored for Villa in a 2-1 triumph. Bacuna didn’t have the best of seasons last term as Villa were relegated from the Premier League but recent impressive form in the Championship has restored fans faith in him.

However, according to football website Voetbal International there’s interest in the wide midfielder from both China and Portugal. In fact, there have been several enquiries from clubs in China, claim Voetbal, about the availability of Villa’s Leandro Bacuna.

The 25-year-old, an international for minnows Curaçao, is supposedly of interest to Trabzonspor in Turkey too who are looking to make a move for the midfielder during this January transfer window.

With impressive recent form, it’s unlikely that manager Steve Bruce will be looking to offload the midfielder but a big money offer from China or elsewhere on the continent could test the clubs resolve.

Bacuna could play for Aston Villa in the FA Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur on the 8th January.
