Charlton Athletic’s Ademola Lookman has the left the club and joined Everton in a deal believed to be worth around £7.5m as confirmed by the club website with the fee being reported by Sky Sports.
Lookman only signed for the Addicks when he was 16-years-old as he grew up playing for amateur side Waterloo FC but despite moving to the club with no fanfare, he would become one of their key players. He was one of the few bright spots last season as Charlton were relegated from the Sky Bet Championship and since then he has attracted interest from the best teams in the country.
But as reports have been suggesting for the last weeks, the team that has got Lookman’s signature is Everton, who have reportedly paid £7.5m out for the 19-year-old winger. There is also the belief that there are add-ons in this deal which means Charlton could end up getting even more money for the youngster. He has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Everton.
Following the transfer, Charlton head coach Karl Robinson said: “Ademola is an incredible talent and has been a joy to work with during my short stint at the club. After a rapid rise through our academy system, he has been on the radar of Premier League clubs for some time.”
